Attractions At South Andaman

Andaman Islands is a perfect destination for Family holidays, Honeymoon tours, Adventure Packages etc. Its a paradise with lot of natural sceneries. It shimmer like emeralds in the Bay of Bengal. Anthropological Museum

The Anthropological Museum is situated in Port Blair, Andaman islands. It showcases the lifestyle of different sections of tribal in Andaman & Nicobar Islands.
These tribes are known by the name of Sentinelese, Nicobaris, Onges, Great Anamanese and Jarawa. The Museums displays live examples of things they used in their past and now continuing the same .
The main aim of the Anthropological Museum is to purely communicate about the tribal life & their living pattern.

Chatham Saw Mill

Chatham Saw Mill is situated in Chatham Island of Andaman & Nicobar Islands. It was setup in 1883, Asia’s oldest & largest Saw Mill of its time. During British Regime, a 100 meter approx bridge was constructed using timber from Port Blair to Chatham. Now, revamped to concrete one.
The mill has got its own importance.

Fisheries Museum

Fisheries Museum is next to Rajiv Gandhi Water Sports Complex. The Museum has variety of Sea Shells, corals, ornamental fishes. The Museum has preserved & maintained its own standard to showcase the beauty of Marine life without affecting the nature.

Marina Park

One cannot leave Andaman Island, without visiting the Marina Park. The beauty of Marina Park is the crowd, full of localities, guests & of course the best for kids to play around. The Park has sitting area, a restaurant.

Mini Zoo

Tis Zoo is famous for its Crocodiles. As by its name, its very small, maintaining its originality with full of Trees. It has very collection of birds and animal mostly that are found in Andaman & Nicobar Islands. Some endemic species like the Andaman Pig and Andaman Eagle could be seen here. You get to see Spotted Deer, Bear, birds like Sea Eagle and several snake species and reptiles.

Samudrika – Naval Marine Museum

Samudrika, a Naval Marine Museum is situated in Port Blair city of Andaman & Nicobar Islands.
The Museum is run by Indian Navy. The idea behind the Museum is to make awareness about the marine life. The display includes, sea corals, shells, ornamental fishes etc.
The Samudrika Museum, presents the life history of Andaman Islands in all aspects with different categories. It is divided into five sections: history of the islands, their geography, people, marine life and archaeology. It houses an impressive display of coral and shells, and a large relief map of the islands topography.

Science Centre

Science Centre is on the way to Carbyn’s Cove Beach. It has an ‘Andaman and Nicobar Islands ‘Gallery’ with interactive exhibits depicting genesis of the Islands, volcanic activities, science of oceans, fun science gallery, modern technology gallery, Taramandal ( portable planetarium), open air science park and an in-house butterfly corner offer a kaleidoscope science spectrum.

Ross Island

This small island is very near to Port Blair. It belongs to the South Andaman administrative district, Andaman and Nicobar Islands. Ross Island remained the Administrative Headquarters for the islands for 85 years before an earthquake rocked it in 1941. The headquarters were then shifted to Port Blair This island served as the capital to the Britisher’s from 1858 to 1941 when the Japanese occupied it. This island homes the ruins of the church, Chief Commissioner's house, the Cathedral and graveyard of the Britisher’s and few other important landmarks which today is hugged by wild wines and huge roots and trunks of century old trees. To reach Ross Island, private ferries are available from Aberdeen Jetty except on Wednesday. Sound & Light show narrating the history can be seen on all days except Wednesday at 5.30 pm.

North Bay Island

North Bay is very near to Port Blair city. Yet one of the most attractive place in Andaman Islands. North Bay Island is famous for Water Sports Activities like Snorkeling, Scuba Diving, Sea Walk , Boat Rides and much more. The place is ideal for all types of Adventure activities at Andamans.
The North Bay Island is situated to the northern side of Port Blair, very much accessible for the Tourist on all days except on Wednesdays. Visiting the Island quite simple, you just need to be at Andaman Water Sports Complex or Junglighat Jetty to get your tickets & board the respective ferry, which will be fully equipped with all safety equipment. With Life jackets on you can sail to North Bay Island. There is few more options added with more advanced technology, you can go for :
Dolphin Ride : Without going into the water and without getting yourself wet, you can see the mesmerizing underwater life through a luxurious glass bottom boat i.e., Andaman Dolphin Ride. Through the Glass Bottom , you can have clear view of the Corals ornamental fishes & aqua life.

Coral Safari

It is a Specially designed Semi Submarine, through which you can have a look of colorful corals , rarest species of fishes.

Viper Island

Viper Island is one of the major tourist attractions. This island was named after a ship wrecking event of the Viper, which was a British trading ship. This small island was the site of the jail where the British used to imprison convicts and political prisoners. It has the ruins of a gallows atop a hillock. The Jail has secured a permanent place in the history of the freedom struggle as it was here that Sher Ali, a Pathan from Peshawar, was hanged after he assassinated Lord Mayo, the Viceroy of India, on February 8, 1872 at Hope Town jetty, opposite Chatham Island. After the construction of the Cellular Jail in 1906, the Viper Jail's importance declined

Jolly Buoy Island

Jolly Buoy Island, It offers a breathtaking underwater view of coral and marine life. It is an ideal place for snorkeling, sea bathing and basking on the sun kissed beach. Jolly buoy island can be reached through Wandoor beach. This is located in Mahatma Gandhi National Park. Jolly Buoy Island is a Plastic free zone, hence needs to be careful about their backpacks. Visitors can enjoy the underwater coral view through snorkeling, Scuba diving or from the glass bottom boat. Jolly buoy island will not be opened throughout the year as it is protected for live corals.

Mt. Harriet

Mt. Harriet is a National Park, situated in Andaman Islands. It is the third highest peak of Andaman Island. The picture on the back side of ₹ 20 note is taken from Mount Harriet National Park. It is trekking point, shows breathtaking view of the entire Port Blair city. One can enjoy the rarest Forest life, flora & fauna to its closest. The interesting sights of Forest is its exotic Birds & Butterflies, which we may not come across normally. Mount Harriet has a Forest Guest House with lovely huts at a height of 365 m. It gives a nice view of sunrises and sunsets.

Carbyn’s Cove Beach

Carbyn's Cove beach- the coconut-palm fringed beach, six kilometers away from Port Blair town is ideal for swimming and sun-basking. Facilities like hotel, restaurant, bar, changing room, adventure water-sports are available here. Historical remains like Japanese Bunkers can be seen on the way to this beach. The Snake Island situated just across the beach is popular for scuba diving. A place of relaxation because it is normally quiet and peaceful there. To look around you and see the beauty of mother nature at it's finest.
You can feel the grainy sand all under your toes. To sit there under the sun feeling the warmth of it beating down on your skin. To know that if you get too hot that you only have to walk about ten feet down until you get into the brisk cool ocean, and feel instant relief from the blistering sun. Not only to feel but to hear the waves is the ultimate relaxation.

Chidiya Tapu (Sunset point)

Chidiya Tapu is the southernmost tip of South Andaman. The lush green mangroves, forest cover with numerous chirping birds and the Sylvan Sands and Munda pahar beaches make it an ideal picnic site. The forest guesthouse situated on top of a hillock provides a fabulous view of isolated islands. It is also known as Bird Island due to its exotic endemic Birds & other wildlife. Chidiya Tapu has various species of Birds, deers, wild pigs. It is a best for Bird Watchers. And indeed a best place for photo-shoot as well.

Havelock Island

Havelock Island is truly a god’s creation with mesmerizing views of nature on its own. The picturesque view will take you to another world of imagination. The Green and Blue Seas shimmers like pearl in the wide ocean. The beauty of nature is well absorbed and cannot be explained in just few words. The main attraction of this Island is the nature Sand, Sea, Corals, green forest and of course people.
Havelock Island believes in Eco Tourism and follows the same. The Havelock Island has beautiful Beaches like Radha Nagar Beach, Elephant beach & Kalapather Beach.
The Island can be reached by Mak Cruise, Green Ocean & Gov. Ferry As well. They are all fixed time ferries, for which tickets needs to be purchased well in advance.

Radha Nagar Beach, Havelock Island

It is most beautiful Island, this beach is in Beach No. 7. The Radha Nagar Beach has been was rated as the best in Asia by Times magazines in 2004. The bluish water with amusing waves will attract anyone who visits the beach. This Beach is ideal for Swimming and Sun Basking.

Elephant Beach, Havelock Island

This beach is famous Snorkeling. The crustal clean water is apt for Snorkeling lovers. The Corals & Fishes can be seen easily in shoreline itself. Through Snorkeling equipment.

Kalapather Beach, Havelock Island

Neil Island
